LEED® Gold Certification
Creating an environmentally responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment.
We’re working on a new website, check back soon for updates. Thanks for your patience!
LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Created by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings. LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement and has become the international standard for certification of environmentally sound buildings. It assesses building design, construction, operations and maintenance, based on prerequisites and credits that a project meets to achieve a certification level: Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum. LEED buildings save energy, water, resources, generate less waste and support human health. And they attract tenants, cost less to operate and boost employee productivity and retention.
The U.S. Green Building Council was established in 1993 with a mission to promote sustainability-focused practices in the building industry. The USGBC’s vision is “that buildings and communities will regenerate and sustain the health and vitality of all life within a generation. Our mission is to transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life.”
CityPlace Burlington is LEED registered, has completed LEED pre-certification, and is designed to achieve LEED Gold® certification. This is the result of thorough evaluation of seven categories of the development:
• Integrative Process
• Location & Transportation
• Sustainable Sites
• Water Efficiency
• Energy & Atmosphere
• Materials & Resources
• Indoor Environmental quality
CityPlace Burlington is focusing on energy conservation with a tight and well insulated exterior, and has worked closely with the City to manage stormwater through green roofs and delayed release stormwater cisterns, with the goal of helping the City reach its carbon neutrality goals and enhancing water quality in beautiful Lake Champlain. With LEED Gold certification, we join thousands of projects worldwide that are transforming our planet. We look forward to serving the needs of residents, businesses and visitors with a safe, clean and green mixed-use facility within the Burlington ecosystem.
