Let’s Build a Better Burlington Together!
To Our Burlington Neighbors,
As you probably know, there hasn’t been much activity at the CityPlace Burlington site. We understand and share your frustration.
Scott Ireland, Al Senecal, and I have joined with Don Sinex with the singular purpose of getting this long-delayed project back on track. We’ve banded together to reacquire Brookfield’s interest in the project and regain control. Brookfield, not Don Sinex, previously controlled the project as the 51% partner and managing member. When Brookfield decided it did not want to pursue the project any longer, Don helped create this new partnership with strong community ties and commitments, and we are now more intent than ever on bringing this project to fruition. Together, we’ve successfully completed thousands of projects in Vermont — with our collective resources and your support, we are ready to move forward, build this project, and re-energize our community!
The new building permit application includes additional housing, a reduced overall height, and other improvements. We want to break ground as soon as possible to bring these much-needed benefits to our City:
- A redesigned LEED® Gold certified build, using renewable energy and comprehensive stormwater treatment.
- More downtown housing: 426 new apartments, including 84+ affordable units.
- 422 parking spaces and additional bike parking.
- New street level retail and service businesses for residents, visitors and tourists.
- Reconnecting Pine and St. Paul Streets to Cherry Street.
- 2,000-3,000 square feet of space available for use by Community groups.
- Wider sidewalks, new bike storage, a larger green belt with new trees.
- More pedestrian-friendly spaces.
- Improved transportation options and reconnected neighborhoods.
From the beginning of this project, we have worked with City Leaders, residents and business owners to fundamentally transform Burlington—rebuilding neighborhoods and revitalizing the community to provide a new and vibrant space for everyone to thrive in the heart of downtown.
If you, like we do, believe this will benefit our City and would like to work together to improve our community, please consider signing and sharing our virtual petition to share your support. With currently almost 500 signatures, we would be honored to have your support as well. Please consider spending a few moments to sign the petition.
Lastly, we’d greatly appreciate it if you reach out to your friends, family and neighbors, and express your support for this project. Spread the word and help us share why Burlington deserves a vibrant, prosperous, and sustainable downtown!
Sincerely,
Dave Farrington
